Sink or Float

Some objects sink and some float — mass and shape both matter, and guessing is part of the fun.

The experience

Guess, drop, watch, sort. Repeat with new objects until interest fades.

    Gather & guess

    Line up objects. Kid guesses sink or float for each.

  2. 2

    Test one by one

    Drop, watch, place on Sink or Float mat.

  3. 3

    Talk for 10 seconds

    Heavy? Hollow? Flat? Then move on — keep it playful.

Stretch it

Try salt water or soapy water. Freeze a toy in ice and watch it float while melting.
